Arraiolos Weekend House

Rua da républica alçado principal_misto.jpg

In deep Alentejo, surrounded by rolling fields of vines, cork, and olive trees, the village of Carrasqueira in Arraiolos region lays dormant with a shrinking population. This is the design for a holiday home of a family who lives in Lisbon and wishes to have a weekend home away from the city.

Carefully blending in with the surrounding architecture—a mix of rural and modernist characters—the design is functional while adapting to contemporary living standards and providing moments of wonder.
